Christmas is all about watching one Christmas movie after another! Kickstart your holiday movie marathon with these timeless movies chosen by Tiger himself.

I know many of you cool cats out there can already start feeling the holiday spirit – I know I do! An excellent way to kick off the holiday season is by watching our Christmas episode with the kids on our Tiger and Tim YouTube channel.

One of my many favourite holiday traditions is watching some classic Christmas movies with Tim and everyone else! From funny adventures to tearjerkers – these videos and movies for kids and the whole family are sure-fire hits for the long holidays.

It’s a Wonderful Life (1946)

Considered one of the best movies of all time, ‘It’s a Wonderful Life is an excellent way to kick off the holidays. I am sure many of you cool cats remember watching this movie in your old video cassette recorder back when you were kids. And now is the perfect time to relieve the inspiring story of George Bailey and his family this Christmas.

Elf (2003)

I’ve met a friendly elephant elf in one of our funny videos for kids, and I know elves are one of the most hardworking and kind creatures out there. So here’s a movie about an extraordinary elf! Starring funny guy Will Ferrell, ‘Elf’ tells the story of a lost elf trying to find himself in the big city. Kids and kids at heart will laugh out loud with Elf’s hilarious adventures.

Home Alone (1990)

It’s not Christmas without Kevin and his misadventures at home! This classic is definitely a must-watch for kids with its endless funny jokes caught on video. Have your own Home Alone marathon and watch the sequels. Pass the popcorn, please!

The Nightmare Before Christmas (1993)

A one-of-a-kind movie about a skeleton wanting to celebrate Christmas, ‘The Nightmare Before Christmas’ is truly a masterpiece. Not only is this movie a delight for the ears, with its catchy tunes, it is also a visual treat with its classic stop-motion animation. Children and grown-ups will definitely enjoy this holiday classic. Check out the trailer on YouTube before watching it with younger kids.

How the Grinch Stole Christmas/The Grinch

Dr. Seuss’ beloved tale about a mean, green Christmas-hatin’ creature called Grinch is a Christmas favourite, especially for younger kids. There are several remakes of this holiday classic – the cartoon TV movie released in 1966, the live-action version starring Jim Carrey from 2000, and the CGI-animated release from 2018 are all funny (like our videos!) that kids and grown-ups will love.

A Christmas Carol

No Christmas is complete without watching ‘A Christmas Carol.’ Based on the beloved novel by Charles Dickens, this movie (and its several retellings) is a heartwarming, timeless piece that everyone in the family will learn a thing or two (or three!) from.

There are many benefits of pets in children and families. Studies on pet ownership show that taking care of animals can help kids and adults lower stress and anxiety. Having to care for pets would also teach kids responsibility and stewardship. It makes children more empowered and feels a sense of belonging with the whole family.

Do you think your Tiger Cubs are ready to take on the challenge of taking care of pets? Here’s how you can prepare them.

Decide on the type of pet together

There are many things to consider when getting a pet. Before deciding what to get, you can get the whole household in a huddle and decide together. You may even list down the pros and cons for each type as you research to help you and your kids determine what pet to get. You can also let the kids watch videos of how the animal behaves and its temperament to understand better which one to get.

Talk about responsibilities

We all know that pets at home also mean responsibilities. Talk to your kids about the chores necessary when taking care of an animal. Different animals would require different care, as well.

Before getting the pet, you can let the kids practice being responsible by assigning them age-appropriate chores first. You can also get the kids to watch educational shows on how to take care of a pet at home.

Teach kids to treat animals with respect

This is what Tiger and Tim learning videos are all about! For kids, being a pet owner allows kids to learn how to treat animals with respect. But even before you get one, teaching children about treating animals with compassion and respect is necessary. You can do so with the different animals you may see in the park, zoo, or pet store. Teaching kids that animals have feelings too enables them to empathise with their pets better, which then helps them become a great pet owner!

Talk to other pet owners

As part of preparing the kids for pet ownership, one way to help them get a better picture of what it really takes to care for a pet is to talk to families who also own pets. For example, maybe a classmate or cousin also owns the kind of pet your kids would want to have. You can have the kids ask about the different chores and tasks they would need to do once the pet arrives. They could even let the kids watch videos of their pets at home and what they typically do to take care of them. Having someone they know talk about what it is like owning a pet could give the kids a good perspective on being a pet owner.

Emphasise on working together

Owning a pet requires cooperation and teamwork with everybody in the house. Before getting a pet, emphasise the need to work together towards a common goal. For example, assign your kids small tasks that would lead up to a bigger project. This would help them learn that they have an essential part in taking care of their pet. Tell them that the full responsibility is not theirs alone, and everyone would have to chip in when taking care of the family pet. Once they realise that the entire burden is not on their shoulders, they will feel more positive and even excited about getting their own pet!

Growing up with a pet can be a memorable time for Tiger Cubs! They not only learn about responsibility, respect, and compassion, they also gain a friend that they would treasure fur-ever!

Starting primary school can be both exciting and scary for young Tiger Cubs. Here’s how grown-ups can help them get ready for school.

Spring is almost up, and the new academic year is about to begin in a couple of weeks. I’m sure all the kids at home watching YouTube (Tiger and Tim, I hope!) or playing outdoors are very excited to go back to school! As for some Tiger Cubs, the new semester will be much more anticipated as they officially start primary school.

Starting school is always fun for kids (old home videos and pictures will prove this!), and parents and grown-ups can make it even more special for them. The adults at home can help kids prepare for their first-ever big school experience in several ways.

Here’s how you can help your Tiger Cubs get ready for primary school.

Support their independence

Young Tiger Cubs love to assert their independence. Foster their desire to do things on their own through simple chores and tasks at home. Duties such as getting dressed, going to the toilet, eating, and even solving simple problems can teach kids a lot about themselves. Adults can show and model these behaviors for the young Tiger Cubs at home.

Start with literacy and numeracy

Kids who are just about to start school are not expected to have advanced literacy and numeracy skills. However, you can always get them started at home. Introducing them to numbers and simple words through funny educational videos or songs for kids is an excellent way for them to get started. You can also begin to help them recognise their name. If they are up to it, they can even learn how to spell and write their name. Drawing and colouring are also fun activities that can help them hone their fine motor skills.

Help them build social skills

Being in the classroom and learning with classmates is such an enjoyable environment for Tiger Cubs! You can help them improve their social skills to get them ready to interact with others through practising simple greetings. Initiating casual conversations with them is another fantastic way to build social skills. Through discussions, children can learn simple social rules such as taking turns when talking. Talk to them about things they like, such as their favourite YouTube Kids videos or their favourite characters from various kids’ shows.

Practice learning to concentrate

The ability to concentrate for about 10 to 15 minutes is a valuable skill at school. Kids can learn practice at home through extended play using building kits and puzzles. In addition, time-tested games can help sharpen their focus. Grown-ups can also give kids simple tasks at home that would require them to follow a set of instructions to help practice their concentration.

I practice my concentration skills whenever I watch funny videos for kids online (Nothing could distract me)! Or whenever Tim asks me to wait for the dinner to be ready!

Make school exciting

Perhaps the simplest way to get Tiger Cubs ready for school is to get them excited about it! There are many ways grown-ups at home can make school exciting for the kids. First, Tiger Cubs can visit the school before classes start. Second, adults in the family can share memorable experiences they had in school. Third, Tiger Cubs can also help out preparing their school materials days before school opens. Lastly, kids and grown-ups can watch funny videos and movies for the whole family related to school to get them excited.

Starting school is always an exciting time for Tiger Cubs. Parents and grown-ups at home can make kids’ experiences more memorable by getting them well-prepped for the year ahead. It makes me wish there’s a tiger school somewhere!

10 Fun Summer Outdoor Activities for Kids

Summer is here and what better way to spend it than frolicking outdoors? Here are some fun activities for kids this summer!

Warm days are upon us, cool cats! After a year of lockdowns and homeschooling, it’s nice to rediscover the outdoors once again. Take a break from watching kids videos on the TV and take advantage of the summer days with these fun outdoor activities for kids (works for tigers, too!).

Don’t forget to take loads of funny photos and videos for kids to look back on after doing these activities!

Bird watching

Birds are such lovely creatures! Sadly, most children only get to study these flying wonders of nature on educational videos on YouTube Kids. However, you don’t need to go to a bird sanctuary to watch some birds. Most likely, your local park is full of different kinds of birds that your Tiger Cubs can meet (with a pair of binoculars, of course!). You can even turn your backyard into a mini-bird sanctuary – just set up a bird feeder and watch the birds take over!

Go on a picnic

No summer is complete without a good old-fashioned picnic! Plop down with your favourite snacks in a park or playground and let kids have fun and enjoy the outdoors. Remember to take photos and videos to document these fun picnic dates for kids and grown-ups!

Go hiking

There’s no better way to enjoy the wonders of nature while breaking a little bit (or, in Tim’s case, a lot) of sweat at the same time than going on a hike! Choose a nearby route or take a drive to a nature park reserve. Your Tiger Cubs will have a blast looking at nature up close and not just on educational videos for kids.

Build a terrarium

Another way to experience nature this summer is through building a terrarium, something you and your kids can do together. To create your mini-garden in a bottle, first you’d need a jar, then you’d need to fill it with pebbles, soil, moss, small plants, and succulents. Let your kids design their terrariums, or you can check out YouTube tutorials on making and growing a terrarium with your kids.

Create sidewalk art

Want some fuss-free summer activity? Grab some colourful sidewalk chalk and let your kids go crazy creating their sidewalk masterpiece. Remember to snap some photos and send their sidewalk art to The Art Critique! We might just feature your kids on our YouTube channel!

Fly a kite

Warm summer days are meant for flying a kite! You can either buy or make your kite. Then head out to the park with your kite and let the Tiger Cubs discover the simple wonder of flying a kite.

Have a Nerf battle

Take advantage of the warm days and stage a fun Nerf battle in your backyard with your kids. Load your water guns and blast away! Video it or it didn’t happen, okay?!

Play some old-school games

Go on a trip down memory lane with your kids and play some old-school games such as hopscotch, jump rope, tag, kick the can, and so much more!

Stargaze

Warm nights call for camping out in the backyard. Why not gaze at the stars to make things more fun and exciting. Prep the kids by watching some educational videos online or reading books about the different constellations to appreciate this fantastic activity better.

Have a beach day

Summer days are meant to be spent at the beach! Now is the best time to put on your swimsuits and frolic in the waves with your Tiger Cubs. Don’t forget to pack sunscreen!

Summer is such a fun time to be a kid, and grown-ups can make this season even more fun and memorable. While at home, don’t forget to catch up on Tiger and Tim episodes on our YouTube channel and let the good times roll!

Howdy, guys and gals! It’s me again, Zookeeper Zack! You know me as the animal-loving dude from the Tiger and Tim funny videos for kids. It’s been a while since you last saw me on our YouTube Kids channel, so let me make it up to you on this blog and our next video – coming out real soon!

As a zookeeper, I love all kinds of animals – from house pets, zoo animals to wild animals in the jungle! But the sad reality is that there are endangered animals and are on the brink of extinction. Being endangered means that there aren’t many of these animals still living, and they might completely disappear on Earth very soon! There aren’t many videos that kids can watch about these endangered animals, so I’m here to tell everyone about the precious creatures that need our help!

Sumatran Rhino

Sumatran rhinos once lived in the foothills of the Eastern Himalayas and India. Around 800 of them are still living in 1986, but in 2008, the number dropped to 275. Sadly, it is now believed that only fewer than 100 Sumatran Rhinos are still around. Animal poaching, or the illegal killing of animals, was the first reason for the Sumatran rhinos’ dwindling number. However, loss of habitat due to illegal logging for oil, paper, and pulp causes their population to drop further. Unfortunately, other species of rhinos are also endangered.

Māui Dolphin

Dolphins are really one of the gentlest creatures on the planet. But sadly, kids may only see them in videos in the future if their population continues to drop, especially the Māui dolphins. Found on the coast of North Island, New Zealand, it is estimated that only around 60 Māui dolphins are left. Large-scale fishing has been the main culprit for their population’s decrease.

Red Wolf

The red wolves are natives of the good ol’ south of the USA – just like me! Sadly, unlike our funny videos for kids, nothing is amusing about the red wolves’ current condition. These mysterious creatures are close to becoming extinct. There are only about 12 of them left in the wild. Red wolves fall victims to illegal hunting, while another reason for the decreasing number of red wolves is the continuous cross-breeding with coyotes.

Chinese Pangolin

The Chinese pangolins are one of the unique creatures in the world. These ‘pinecones with legs’ are the world’s only mammal with scales! However, because Chinese pangolins are often killed for their scales (which is believed to have healing properties), kids may only get to know about them on Youtube educational videos if we don’t help keep them alive.

Amur Leopard

I know our very own Tiger is one in a million (as you have seen in our videos for kids!), but Amur leopards are not only rare but are also endangered, and going extinct real soon. In fact, there are less than 100 of them left roaming the Amur-Heilong region in between far eastern Russia and northeastern China, while 180 are in captivity. These adorable wild cats are often traded illegally, causing their numbers to continue to drop.

Saola

Saolas had only been discovered in 1992, but they were already considered endangered. Saolas live in the mountains of Vietnam and Laos, and it is believed that there are less than 750 of them left in the wild. Unfortunately, saolas’ habitat is why their population is fast decreasing, as agriculture and infrastructure have destroyed many forests where they live in.

There are still many more endangered animals, too many in fact, that I could not fit them all into this list! However, you can learn more about the other different endangered animals and how we can help their survival rate increase from the various resources online such as videos so kids can fully understand. Organisations such as World Wildlife Foundation, among others, can give you more information about their conservation efforts for the many endangered animals in the world.

Well, hello there, my royal Tiger Cubs! It’s me again, Tiger! Before we release a new Tiger and Tim video that kids (and grown-ups) will definitely enjoy, I’m back with another round of fun facts for all of you!

As you can recall, Tim and I had a fun trip around London and even met the Queen herself in one of our learning videos for kids – our Great British Culture episode! We looked at the different fun places and things that we can find in the capital of England, and now I would like to share with you more cool and exciting things about the land I call my second home.

Big Ben

No one will ever deny the beauty of Big Ben. Found at the north end of the Westminster Palace, it is one of the most recognisable icons of Great Britain.

Not many people know that the name ‘Big Ben’ actually refers to the bell that is inside the clock tower. Its actual name is the Great Bell, and the clock tower is named after Queen Elizabeth II (whom we also met in one of our videos for kids!). Another fun fact about Big Ben is that it is the largest four-faced clock tower in the world!

Queen Elizabeth II

The world’s longest-reigning living monarch is none other than Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. I was so nervous when we met her, but I think I managed to give a perfect bow – I don’t know about Tim, though! (Watch how we met the Queen in our Storytime with Tiger and Tim learning videos for kids!)

It is no secret that Queen Elizabeth II is an awesome queen, but what made her TIGER-RIFFIC is her love for animals! She loves horses and dogs, corgis, to be more specific. Her corgis have made their way to different paintings, official photographs, and even statues! Meanwhile, she is known to spend a lot of time with her horses at the Balmoral Castle, and she also loves watching horse racing events.

London Underground

If London is the heart of England, then the London Underground are the veins that keep the city alive! Also called The Tube, it first opened its tracks to Londoners in 1863. Since then, it has served millions of passengers every year.

Apart from its official name and its more popular nickname, the London Underground has also been called ‘Twopenny Tube’ back in the day, referring to the train’s flat fare. Grown-ups and kids can also watch shows while inside the stations because musical performances or busking is allowed in the London Underground.

Fish and Chips

Ahh… fish and chips! No true Brit can ever say no to our national dish!

It’s hard to tell how this delicious combination first came about, but it has been a staple in the British diet for hundreds of years! It has been served to soldiers and saved many families from hunger during the Second World War. Aside from being delectable, fish and chips are nutritious, too! Do you know what can make fish and chips even more scrumptious? Have them while watching Tiger and Tim learning videos for kids!

Union Jack

As Tim mentioned in our Great British episode, the Union Jack is the official flag of Great Britain. Its official name is not actually Union Jack, but rather the Union Flag. And did you know kids that it shows the three flags of the three countries that make up Great Britain – England, Scotland, and Ireland? Each cross also represents their respective patron saint. The red cross belongs to England (Cross of St. George), the white saltire represents Scotland (Cross of St. Andrew), and the red saltire represents Ireland (Cross of St. Patrick).

Double Decker Bus

No part of a London tour is ever complete without riding those famous red double-decker buses!

But this iconic mode of transportation was not always red. Before 1907, the bus’ colour would differ, depending on the bus’s route. However, The London General Omnibus Company decided to paint their buses red to stand out from the competition. Eventually, they became the largest bus operator in London, and the rest was history!

Beefeaters

As Tim said in our Great British Culture episode, the guards that are manning Buckingham Palace are called the Beefeaters (find out in our learning videos for kids why they are called Beefeaters!). These guards who are decked in their colourful uniforms are the ceremonial guards of the Tower of London. Initially, the Beefeaters’ job was to guard the prisoners in the tower. Nowadays, they act as tour guides for people touring the city.

Additional fun fact: Their actual name is ‘The Yeomen Warders of Her Majesty’s Royal Palace and Fortress the Tower of London, and Members of the Sovereign’s Body Guard of the Yeoman Guard Extraordinary. Phew! I think I’ll stick to Beefeaters – it’s sounds more fun, too!

Let’s usher in the new year with new exciting developments and updates from Tiger and Tim!

Hey, cool cats! I hope that the start of your new year is going great!

As for us here at Tiger and Tim, the beginning of the year has proved to be an exciting one. Me and my buddy Tim Hague are delighted to share that we have recently partnered with The National Literacy Trust (the UK’s biggest literacy charity) for their brilliant campaign called ‘Words that Count’. Turns out, I am not just a tiger for kids; I am also a tiger for grown-ups now!

Words that Count, a part of the Words for Life program by The National Literacy Trust, aims to help young people manage their money and make wise financial decisions. Apart from supporting Tiger Cubs’ literacy development, we also helped out grown-ups in developing financial literacy! Our talented editors and animators, who typically bring our learning videos for kids to life, created animated videos for the campaign that aid in delivering the program’s message.

Aside from Tim and me, other celebrities (yes, we are celebrities in our right!:)) are also part of the campaign. Love Island stars Tom, Biggs, and Danny also lent their hand to the program, as well as other financial experts and advisors. Other partners include Read Machester, Experian, and Money and Pension Services (or MaPS).

Another exciting update from us is that we were recently featured in an online article in the Daily Mail! That’s one of the most popular websites in the world! Pretty cool, huh?!

The article shared different educational resources (which are free or low-cost) that families with Tiger Cubs can take advantage of in the light of another phase of a national lockdown and school closures all over the UK and elsewhere.

Among the resources listed in the article are the Tiger and Tim learning videos for kids which we upload to our YouTube channel and other platforms like HappyKids.TV, Kidoodle, Toongoggles, Apple TV, Roku and Amazon Fire TV! The article emphasises our mission to help Tiger Cubs develop their literacy whilst developing their character, also.

Aside from Tiger and Tim, other free educational platforms, such as Edplace, ActionAid and Hero Tales are also part of the list. Corporations that offer free educational resources are listed too, such as Amazon, Barclays, and HSBC.

2020 will always be special to us! We were born this year after all! So, let’s take a look at some of our favourite Tiger and Tim moments of the year:

2020 has been quite a ride, right, cool cats?! From the lockdowns, online classes, endless Zoom meetings, and so much more, this tiger for kids had bid the year adios! But as my buddy Tim Hague and I welcome 2021, let’s first go back to some of our favourite moments from the different learning videos for kids we’ve produced!

Our Premiere Episode

If there’s one thing this year (and Tiger and Tim’s pilot episode) has taught us, it’s to wash our hands often! The very first Tiger and Tim episode premiered on July 1, 2020, after months of hard work and preparation. Thanks to all you roarsome people, our pilot episode has reached 9,000+ views and counting!

This was an exceptional episode for Tim and me because it’s when we first met our Tiger Cubs – from all over the world – who continue to support us to this day!

Trip to Outer Space

We went to many different places this year – from the jungle to even the North Pole! But nothing beats traveling to outer space! For the second episode of our learning video for kids, Tim and I went on an out-of-this-world adventure where we (and my mouse friend, Marvin) found out that the moon is not made of cheese (sorry about that, Marvin).

Tim The Hippo

As a smart tiger, just like all of the best tigers for kids, I get the Quiz Master’s questions correct every time. As a reward, I am allowed to turn Tim into anything I want him to be! My favourite among Tim’s transformations would have to be “Tim the hippo”! It’s not much of a stretch really…just take a look at his belly! Ha!

Tiger and Tim’s Original Stories

One of the many things we like to do, especially during a lockdown, is to write and read our own stories! The original stories we feature in our learning videos for kids usually feature my animal friends from the jungle. Tiger cubs can develop their literacy and reading skills, as well as learn essential values just by reading along with us. It’s a child literacy adventure!

The Art Critique’s Funny Brows

What would our learning videos for kids do without The Art Critique and the shrill of his voice? I still think The Art Critique is just Tim wearing funny stuck-on brows and a moustache, though! Case in point: When the Art Critique’s eyebrow fell off! Well, if that’s not a clue to the Art Maestro’s real identity, then I don’t know what is! And the fact that we’ve never seen The Art Critique and Tim Hague in one room is really fishy…. Nevertheless, The Art Critique and I have loved seeing all of the paintings, drawings, arts and crafts this year. Fantastic!

The Tiger and Tim’s Sing-Along Song

2020 is also the year that Tim and I wrote and performed our first Tiger and Tim song! Our ultra-catchy sing-along song made its debut in the fourth episode and it has become our special way to end our episodes for all tigers and for kids everywhere. We think and hope it teaches our Tiger Cubs all of the values that are important nowadays! We plan to have more original songs in our future learning videos for kids, and maybe even some celebrity guests!

The Time-Traveling TARDIS

While lockdowns prevented most of us from traveling outside of the house, that didn’t stop us from traveling back in time! Thanks to the Doctor Who TARDIS (or Time And Relative Dimension in Space), we were able to see the wonders of Ancient Egypt in our fifth episode. We even met a mummy! Not Tim’s Mummy Susy, an actual Egyptian Mummy!!

The Cub Cup Final

Dubbed as the sporting event of the year (well, at least for us!), The Cub Cup Final was truly memorable! Thanks to everyone who believed in me, I scored big time and won the match against the Wolfpack Wanderers with my penalty kick! IT’S TIGER TIME!

A Royal Visit

Who could forget about the time we met Her Royal Highness, Queen Elizabeth, at Buckingham Palace during our Great British Culture episode? Do you remember how I majestically bowed in front of the Queen and how Tim’s bone’s creaked because he’s getting very old? GOOD TIMES.

P.S: I wonder when will I meet the other members of the Royal family? Stay tuned for that! I would definitely like to visit Prince Harry in America…

Saving Christmas

Just when we thought we’d had enough adventures for the year, an extraordinary friend of ours needed some help! And that friend is none other than Father Christmas, himself! Good thing we were able to reach the North Pole just in time to save the holidays for Santa Claus, or “FC” (Father Christmas) as I like to call him! I’d love to visit Father Christmas again next year, that’s for sure!

Here’s to more memories and exciting adventures in 2021! The first of those adventures will be: Tim and I meeting the dinosaurs! Yay!
